Trout and Steelhead
Dolly Varden and Steelhead are two other species that are commonly pursued by anglers.
The Dolly Varden are a very tasty treat. They are caught both in the ocean and in the rivers and streams using the same bait and tactics used on trout anywhere else in the US. They are fun to catch using light tackle and can be very challenging.
Steelhead are a rainbow trout that are born in fresh water and then spend a part of their life in the ocean before returning to the freshwater to spawn, just like the salmon do. Steelhead are large fish (up to 50+ lbs.) and can provide an excellent fight, especially with lighter tackle.
